Three te Ao Māori workshops

This year's Matariki theme is kotahitanga. Creative Paia Swanson Terepo offered three workshops in harakeke and korowai. The harakeke-weaving workshop was open to all ages, providing a space for the hapori to come together to weave, learn tikaanga and share their stories. In the korowai workshops, participants weaved a small cloak, which they took home.  

These workshops were an opportunity for the community to come together to learn, participate and celebrate taonga and the importance Te Whare Wānanga o Owairoa holds in our community. 

This was an Arts Out East project supported by Te Tuhi and Howick Local Board
