Lucy Olcese: Connection

  • Uxbridge Arts and Culture, Ormiston Town Centre and Te Tuhi (map)

Connecting communities!

CONNECTION is a participatory art installation created by artist Lucy Olcese with the local community at the centre of the artwork!

By providing free material and asking the local community to make a pompom, each piece was added to a three-metre circular rug. Over many weeks of the project evolving, the installation created a network of colour, representing our connections to each other. Various pompom drop-off boxes were located at UXBRIDGE Arts & Culture, Ormiston Town Centre and Te Tuhi. Creations were collected by Lucy and added to the installation each week.

The Installation on display throughout April and May at Ormiston Town Centre. To read more about Lucy’s experience and inspiration, check out her artist interview with Ormiston Shopping Centre here.

This was an Arts Out East project supported by Te Tuhi and Howick Local Board
