The Pakuranga Chinese Association consists of more than 900 members, mostly elderly Chinese immigrants living in the Eastern Suburbs. The Association has more than 10 cultural groups including a folk dance team, big choir (with more than 80 members), smaller choir, waist drum group, band, Bejing Opera group, Chinese calligraphy group, a painting and literature class, an English class, photography group and ballroom dancing group.
These activities are held on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings in the Pakuranga Leisure Centre and Te Tuhi. The smaller choir meet on Tuesday mornings at China Town, Te Rakau Drive.
